a regional competition for the National CCDC
March 9-11, 2007
University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) will host the 2007 Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC). The winning team of this competition will then compete with other regional champions in the 2007 National CCDC to be hosted by the University of Houston in spring 2007.

The first national CCDC event was initiated in 2006 by the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2006. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was a major sponsor of the event. Four regional CCDC events were held. Regional Champions, along with a team fielded jointly by five U.S. military academies competed in the National CCDC in San Antonio Texas late April 2006. Kennesaw State University organized the first Southeastern CCDC in 2006.

The goal of this competition is to elevate the quality of information assurance education and to better prepare our students for the information security industry. The competition focuses on the operational aspect of managing and protecting an existing network infrastructure. Teams will be scored on the following three components with equal weights:

  • Completion of business injects
  • Protecting systems against (red team) attacks
  • The ability to keep services available
